Christmas 2014
Early this morning all the Santa Trackers tell me that Santa has finished for the evening and is back at home relaxing with the Mrs., in front of the warm glow of the fireplace with a nice cup of hot chocolate. This morning all around the world young boys and girls are waking up and once again believe in the the magic of Christmas. They will find a empty cup of milk, a plate of cookie crumbs, and some chewed up carrots on the plate they each carefully prepared the night before as snacks for Santa and the reindeer. Sometimes they may even find a few choice footprints leading from the fireplace.
For one magical night they believe. It becomes the laughter, the smiles, the glow in their eyes, and every now and then the giddy announcement of “he’s real” that begins to fill each of our homes and with joy, and for one magical morning we all believe.
There can be a lot said about the commercialization of Christmas, how putting Christmas trees up for sale before it is even Halloween makes it less than what it really is. Because of the commercialization sometimes we ask ourselves “what has Christmas become?” Our lives can be so busy that it become easy to forget about the Spirit of Christmas as we shop for this gift, or hunt for that gift. But on Christmas morning we find ourselves taking the time to just become children again and let the magic of the Christmas season become part of us once more. On Christmas morning, if we try to, we can rediscover the spirit of Christmas thru the eyes of the children, and once again we all Believe.
There will always be time for work, there will always be time for other things. Christmas becomes one of those special days when we can leave the rest of life behind us and just be in the moment. It is unlike any other holiday because of that simple fact. It is what we often can refer to as the miracle of Christmas. Christmas lets us just simply be in the moment.
This morning, and all of today, my wish for all my family and Facebook friends is that we all reflect on the spirit of Santa Claus and the holiday that is Christmas. And so, early Christmas morning 2014, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
One final thought……. Do You Believe?
